Some cats love exploring a Christmas tree, so we’ve got some hints and tips on how to make your Christmas tree cat safe! 🎄Make sure your Christmas tree has a secure, sturdy base, so it’s hard for excitable cats to topple it over. 🎄Avoid using glass baubles, or any decorations that may break easily. Felt ornaments are a great choice. 🎄Hang decorations higher up on the tree, out of the way of cheeky cat paws! 🎄Place your Christmas lights near the centre of the tree and always switch your Christmas lights off at the mains when you’re not around. 🎄Avoid tinsel. Tinsel is very tempting for cats as it looks just like a cat toy. If your cat eats it, it can cause serious harm. 🎄If you have a real tree, then cover the water in the base so your cats don’t drink from it. 🎄Fake snow is harmful for cats (and pets in general) as they can contain harmful chemicals so avoid using it.
