A Happy Ending x

A lovely lady called Fiona Jane tagged MK Cat Rescue in on a post on facebook the other day. A concerned owner had spotted that her cat was injured but couldn’t get close enough to catch him. She needed to borrow a trap to catch Saski.
We dropped a trap round that evening and having had to drag Annie away from the Alsatian puppy (she does love her dogs!) we are really pleased to say that late last night Saski was trapped and is going to the vets today for a check -up.
The trap was purchased through donations that had been made to our charity and we wanted to let you guys know that even a donation of £5 can make a huge difference to us being able to help cats in need.
We wish Saski well at the vets and wanted to thank everyone for their support. We wish everyone a lovely Easter.

Final thought……

One of our volunteers was down at a local vets this evening after work picking up a stray cat that we had gotten neutered.

A member of the public told her that she wished she had a job looking after the cats. Our volunteer said you can work with cats….your reward isn’t financial though its seeing the cats safe and happy.

Much like seeing Oscar all cosy in his new home, he came in on a Sunday morning, it was blinking freezing and a number of volunteers had to change their plans to accommodate his admission that morning. Seeing him now all fluffy, clean and loved is reward enough for us.

Night on the Tiles

We were really proud to be one of the community groups that were part of the Charity Car Raffle in the Centre MK last year. When we were invited to celebrate last week with the car winner & to get a chance to mingle with other charities in MK….well it was only right that we asked some of our fundraisers to attend and represent us.

Through selling the raffle tickets Sandy & Paul and our other wonderful volunteers raised £225 for MK Cat Rescue and with spring well and truly in the air we need all the money we can to help neuter stray cats that are living in our community.

Our new foster cat has come into care this afternoon.  He’s had a bit of a rough time of it of late so he’s going to have a weekend with his fosterer to chill and we’ll be out this weekend getting him some lovely new toys to play with.  Dexter is two years old and is an owned cat but due to personal circumstances that are beyond his owner’s control, he’s come into our care.

Settle in Dexter and get some rest and we’ll see what next week brings us mate.

Luna’s A Star :-)

Luna & Lola In Real People Magazine

Lovely Luna was reported to MK Cat Rescue last year having been found up for sale on a selling site with her two siblings.  They came into our care at about 6 weeks of age.

We were delighted when our friend and now volunteer Amee fell in love with Luna and Luna was lucky enough to be re-homed with three beautiful dogs, one being the lovely Lola.  Their bond is something rather special and clearly Luna has decided that Lola makes a good mum!

Oscars Speech

Seeing as its the Oscars later…..the founders of MK Cat Rescue would like to make a tiny speech……so this weekend we have raised an incredible amount of money which will help tide us over for the next month or so.

We would like to thank…gets speech out ……Nikki (for coming out to deliver the tombola when she really should have been tucked up in bed resting as she’s poorly), Tracey for showing Claire how to haggle, Sue for donating her beautiful drawings and Sandy for hanging in there with Carole when it was blinking freezing on Saturday afternoon.

To Kath & Barb, your friendliness and advice meant that a lovely lady contacted us about adopting Reggie and that beyond anything has made our weekend. Lovely, sweet Reggie is reserved.

To Colin, Rosemary, Karen, Donna, Sue, Nikki’s auntie Valda & anyone else (oh the lovely lady who had an indoor bunny…called Bunny!) who donated money or kitten food, thank you thank you thank you…..oh that’s the music cutting in – we’re overwhelmed – thank you x

Come In From Outside Little One

On Sunday the 20 February 2016 Hayley contacted us via our facebook page asking for help with a cat that had been living under her shrubs in her front garden for the last four weeks.

We popped out expecting to see a rather solid tom cat but found a very scared but friendly little fella who was under a year old.

He had a tiny cut to his ear which we bathed with salty water and sadly no beep when scanned for a chip.

We put a paper collar on him and after having some treats he wandered off so we hoped he was heading home. Sadly by late afternoon despite the cold wind that was blowing he was trying to find shelter under the shrub.

We took the decision to bring him into the warm as quite frankly we saw a number of un-neutered tom cats in the area and clearly this little one was struggling to keep them at bay.  So for his owns safety we prioritised him to come into our care.

Yet unclaimed we are arranging to get him vet checked and neutered.  If no owner comes forward then we’ll make sure he finds a nice, safe and warm loving home to call his own.
