**URGENT APPEAL FOR FOSTERER’S**

We are currently in desperate need of more fosterers, as we have a total of 49 cats and kittens in care, with more and more waiting to come in. We are very quickly running out of space, and would love for new fosterers to join the team.

Fostering is a really rewarding experience and a wonderful thing to do. If you have other pets you will just need a spare room that your foster cat or kittens can relax and enjoy in. We provide everything, including food, litter, bowls, beds… literally everything! All we require from you is to provide love and care to your foster, and help with their journey to rehoming.

We are particularly looking for people who would be interested in socialising neutered adult males, who need time, love and patience in a nice environment. And also people to foster mum and kittens, where you will spend time socialising them, providing love and care, playing and watching them grow until they are ready for rehoming.

If you think this sounds ideal for you, please contact us at mkcatrescue@gmail.com with a contact number!

Fate x

Here at MK Cat Rescue we were only just talking about fate this morning…..and how everything happens for a reason…….

For those who have read the story of Sidney the feral who sadly passed away last week. Well the story continues…..his carers found a new stray in their garden this week. Angela lent them a trap and last night little kitty was trapped and brought into emergency foster.

After a good night’s rest, Angela managed to scan the cat for a chip and well don’t we just love it when we hear a beep!

That beep led Angela to contacting Antonella, who had lost her cat Cookie 2 years ago! Cookie and Antonella are now reunited and we owe a debt of gratitude to Sidney and his carers for enabling us to be part of this reunion.

Kitten Food Appeal!

Meet our new arrivals Floss, Dotty and Tilly! Just as the last of the kittens in our care were rehomed, we have now admitted another 9 and their mums in the past week.

Therefore, we are appealing for kitten food, if anyone could spare any for us we would be incredibly grateful. Some of the local supermarkets have some good deals on kitten food at the moment, some of these places are suggested below;

Sidney x

Sometimes cat charities can hit a bit of a rough patch. This past week has been particularly difficult as we’ve sadly lost two cats’ due to their ill health. Here is the story of Sidney and a side of cat work that perhaps you wouldn’t necessarily hear about.

Sidney’s carer’s pick up the story:

Sidney the feral named Sidney because of his black mohican!

He turned up in our back garden about 4 ½ years ago. He was living in Bletchley Park and we caught Sidney and got him neutered and he returned the same day looking very sorry for himself.

However, he returned that night for his dinner! Along with a hiss just so that we knew he was not happy with us!!

He soon softened and we all grew closer, at first, we could not get any closer than about 30 feet but that changed overtime. In the end, we could get about 2 foot to him.

About a week ago we noticed he was dribbling a lot and his ears looked grubby so we contacted MK Cat Rescue and they lent us the use of a trap so that we could catch Sidney and get him checked out.

We caught him in about 10 minutes after being lured by the smell of fresh chicken in the trap – he loved his food!

We had a call from the vets saying that Sidney wasn’t very well at all and we were absolutely “gutted” as we loved the old boy. We went to the vets to say goodbye. When we saw Sidney close-up we could see how poorly he was – he was put to sleep as that was the kindest thing to do for him.

Sidney chose to live his life outside and with some help from us he did well. MK Cat Rescue helped us and gave us practical help and the simple help of a trap.

Even though we so wanted things to be different we could support Sidney right to the end.

We will miss him chilling out on the garden bench!

MK Cat Rescue send our love and sincere thanks to Jenny and Frank Evett for caring for Sidney. A big thank you to our superhero Stewart who provided not just the physical equipment to help but also support and advise for what was a difficult time for everyone involved.

Kittens happily ever after..

Our second pair of kittens, Paddy and Pixie, went off to their forever home yesterday!
From the same litter as Pickle and Piper, they developed such loving and entertaining personalities! We can’t wait for them to explore their new home.
Good luck sweethearts ♥

Kitten season is in full swing…

Kitten season is officially in full swing! These lovely little ones arrived into our care last week.
Their mum was a stray, who was luckily taken in by someone shortly after the kittens were born, so they are really friendly and have grown up in a home environment.
They are approx 10-11 weeks old, and are being vet checked on Thursday. After this they will be ready for rehoming.
As ever we rely solely on donations to allow us to continue the work we do for the cats and kittens in our care. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so following the link on this page.
