Meet Pongo…

PongoPongo came into our care in November 2017, after being found as a stray in Wolverton, Milton Keynes.

He was very vocal, underweight and had not been chipped, although he was neutered.

After a visit to the vets he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and it took a trial with a variety of different medicines to try and stabilise his condition. In early February his thyroid levels were at an all-time high, they should have been between 30-60 and he was at 135. However after four months, finally his condition is under control.

Pongo2Pongo also needed dental work done, which was carried out in mid-March and finally by the end of March he was able to have his vaccinations and the vets signed him off for re-homing. In total our vet bills came to £407.44

We couldn’t have helped him without the support of our loyal followers and grants such as Pet’s At Home’s Support Adoption for Pets scheme, so thank you!

He has now gone to this forever home – as you can see he’s very happy and relaxed now-a-days!

Fundraising – A Day In The Life Of Our Volunteers

Ever wondered what was involved with volunteering at a fundraising event? Well we thought we’d give you a little insight into what Annie, Claire and Cosmic Dusty Dog got up to yesterday:

At about 10:15, the car was loaded up with our gazebo, tables, and fundraising stock including teddy bears, bric a brac and plastic ducks!  We got slightly lost on route (Claire took the wrong turning 😊) but we were set up with a few minutes to spare before the event opened at midday.

The May Fun Day got off to a lovely start with some of Annie’s family coming along to support her and the people just kept coming, some to fuss Dusty and others to play our children’s games.

There were opportunities for breaks for both Annie and Claire and Dusty got to share Annie’s sausage nearing the end of the day.  By 15:30 we had pretty much sold out of all our stock and we couldn’t resist sending a photo to Stewart and Carole to show them how well the event had done 😊

The air conditioning was put on in the car ready for our drive home at 16:00 and we are so chuffed that we raised £280.90.

We can’t wait to hear how much the event raised for their chosen charity of Sue Ryder and would like to thank the staff and everyone at The Barn’s Hotel for their continuing support.  This is one of our favourite events of the year and really gets our summer fundraising off with a bang!

If you’d like to get involved in fundraising events, we’d love to hear from you! Whether you can spare a few hours or a whole day, it’s a lot of fun and all money raised helps the cats who need it. Send us a message or email 🙂Untitled design.png
